ABP awarded for reduction of water usage in Dorset plant

ABP UK was presented with a silver Green Apple Award at the Houses of Parliament earlier this week for environment considerations on work on its Sturminster Newton abattoir upgrade.

The upgrade to the plant included a scheme to reduce water usage in the factory. ABP managing director, Tom Kirwan was said to be delighted with the award and said: “All industries have a responsibility to manage water sustainably and we believe the work we have carried out to reduce water use has made a small but important contribution.

“This is a great achievement for ABP UK and the Sturminster Newton site in particular. It is always nice to receive independent recognition for the hard work carried out by our team, especially when this work is focused on a key sustainability issue for the meat industry.”

The awards are for best environmental practice and ABP featured in the Food & Drink category.
