Bangers Awards for Best Supermarket Sausages

Tesco was the winner of the Multiple Retailer sausage category to help kick off British Sausage Week (3-9 November).

To mark the event celebrity ambassador and ex England and Lions rugby star, Phil Vickery, took to the stage to announce the winners of the multiple retailer and branded manufacturer category in the competition to celebrate some of ‘Britain’s Greatest Bangers’.

The presentation ceremony, held at Butchers’ Hall in London, marked the start of Phil Vickery’s nationwide British Sausage Week tour, during which he will recognise and reward some of the best butcher’s sausages in the country.

The winning Multiple Retailer sausages were:

Traditional Pork Sausage

Gold Award – ‘Tesco Finest Lincolnshire Sausage’
Silver Award – ‘Waitrose Perfectly Seasoned Gourmet Pork Sausages with Black Pepper and Nutmeg’
Bronze Award – ‘Milton Gate Premium Cumberland Sausages’ (Lidl)

Innovative Pork Sausage

Gold Award – ‘Tesco Finest Pork, Honey and Fennel Sausage’
Silver Award – ‘Waitrose 6 Subtly Smoky Dogs’
Bronze Award – ‘Premium Pork and Toffee Apple Sausage’ (Asda)
