Butchers ready for summer sizzler

Local butchers Mearns T McCaskie and Scott Brothers have both struck diamond with their special products for the summer of 2014. The butchers had success in the recent Craft Butcher Awards evaluation for speciality burgers and speciality barbecue products that was judged at the City of Glasgow College last month.

The success came with diamond award in the burger category for Tex-Mex Burger for Mearns T McCaskie Weymss Bay and a diamond award in the bbq category for Scott Brothers, Dundee for Sweet Chilli Beef.

Nigel Ovens of Mearns T McCaskie was presented with his awards at the recent regional meeting in Garfield House Hotel, Stepps held by the event organisers, Scottish Craft Butchers. He commented: “We try hard to come up with fresh ideas to excite our customers’ taste buds. This recognition proves that we have refined our recipe to popular tastes and we look forward to attracting new customers who are looking for something a little different.”

Ian Faulds, President of the Scottish Craft Butchers added: “We run these evaluations not just to award excellence but to underline the diverse product range that craft butchers offer. It is good time to be a butcher because customers are becoming more adventurous with their tastes and they are always seeking out the assurance of provenance that shopping at a specialist provides.”
