Conference to highlight changing face of retailing

The changing face of red meat retailing in a global marketplace and opportunities in the beef and lamb sector will come under the spotlight at this year’s EBLEX annual conference. Somerset farmer Ed Green will examine how lessons learned from beef and sheep production in the US and Brazil can be applied in the UK during the free, one-day event at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on 5th November.

The conference will also feature a presentation on red meat retailing from Morrisons operations manager Andrew Loftus. Euro Quality Lambs senior director Rizvan Khalid will focus on the challenges and opportunities for the sheep sector in serving the Halal market. EBLEX export manager Jean-Pierre Garnier is due to make a presentation on global opportunities for beef and lamb, while NFU vice president Adam Quinney will look at the road ahead for beef and lamb production.

Dr Phil Hadley, EBLEX southern senior regional manager and conference organiser, said: “Our annual conference provides an ideal forum for those in the industry to come together and discuss pressing industry issues and gain an insight into potential future opportunities for the sector.”

Question and answer sessions will also be included, with EBLEX staff on hand to discuss technical issues and demonstrate other aspects of the organisation’s work. Places can be reserved by phoning 0870 608 6610 or email conference2013@eblex.ahdb.org.uk.
