Cranswick contract with Asda creates 100 jobs

Cranswick Riverside in Hull will be the sole supplier of fresh pork to Asda in a contract worth more than £30 million. Cranswick Country Foods has bought an old fish auction house in William Wright Dock in Hull and will convert it to house retail packing, slicing and dicing lines. It’s estimated that the new site will create 100 – 120 new jobs.

Chris Aldersley, manging director of the company’s fresh pork division, said: “This is a significant contract for Cranswick County Foods and necessitated an expansion to accommodate the new business.

“Now the sale is complete, we are moving in to convert the building into retail slicing, dicing and packing lines. We will be investing heavily in new state-of the-art machinery and this will be installed over the next six weeks.

“Recruitment will begin straight away and our plan is to have Cranswick Riverside up and running by the end of March.”
