Dew Valley wins bacon contract for McDonald’s in Ireland

Dew Valley from Tipperary is to supply all of Ireland’s McDonald’s restaurants with bacon. Product was previously sourced from the UK.

According to The Irish Times that means a delivery of up to 9 milion pieces of cooked bacon, which is 36 tonnes a year.

Whilst details of the deal were not disclosed reports indicate it may be worth, over five years, around 3 million euros.

The Irish Times quoted McDonald’s Ireland managing director, Adrian Crean, saying the company was: “Committed to supporting the Irish agri-food sector,” and Dew Valley’s owner, Jack Blake, said he hoped the new contract would: “Open new doors of opportunity for the company in overseas markets.”
