The ARENA Survey is Northern Ireland’s only benchmark for Environmental Management, Performance and Reporting. In this year’s survey 300 organisations from 15 different sectors were invited to take part, including the top 200 companies and leading public sector organisations.

David Farrell, Dunbia’s CSR director commented: “In Dunbia we have a real focus on caring for the environment. Our green strategy is embedded in our everyday business activities and receiving this platinum award is testament to that. Our environmental management team continually strive to introduce new and better methods of how to save resources and last year alone we reduced water usage by 11.7% in NI and reduced our energy usage by 10.9%.”

He continued: “We have ambitious targets set for the year ahead in continuing to reduce our environmental impact which we will strive to achieve and exceed ensuring we remain positioned as a responsible business aligned to our customers’ expectations.”

Environment Minister Mark H Durkan commended all participants for their leadership and achievement saying: “In today’s challenging economic climate, smart businesses are increasingly looking to improve their operational and resource efficiency and reap the associated benefits of cost savings and greener credentials. The ARENA Network Survey is undoubtedly a key influencer in supporting organisations to achieve a more sustainable way of doing business. The results are improving year-on-year, highlighting the importance of environmental responsibility for business and the growing need to benchmark their environmental performance.

“I applaud all the participants of this year’s Survey; they are ambassadors for good environmental stewardship who have, and will hopefully continue to, set the standard for responsible business practice.”
