England’s Best Burger Challenge is back for 2014

The search for ‘England’s Best Burger’ will commence once again in 2014 when EBLEX’s hotly contested Burger Challenge competition will open for entries.

For the 2014 competition, EBLEX will be looking for the most succulent, tender and tasty burgers in three categories:

  • Independent Butcher – open to retail butchers in England who make and sell their burgers from scratch on the premises
  • Multiple Retailer – open multiple retailers or manufacturers that produce and supply burgers for sale in multiple retail outlets in England (branded or own label)
  • Foodservice – open to foodservice operators, catering butchers or manufacturers in England that produce burgers for sale in foodservice outlets in England

Burgers can be made from beef, veal, lamb or mutton but must be from an assured source which is compliant with the Red Tractor, EBLEX Quality Standard or an equivalent named quality scheme. There is no limit to the number of entries that can be made.

All entries will be assessed in the first round of judging and marks equating to gold, silver and bronze status will be awarded to the highest scoring burgers. Only those achieving gold will make it into the final round of judging.

The winning burgers in each category will be announced at the Meat Management Awards taking place on 4th June at London’s prestigious Grand Connaught Rooms.

Further details and entry forms for the Burger Challenge competition 2014 will be available to download from www.eblextrade.co.uk from January.
