Finalists revealed for ‘Britain’s Best Sirloin Steak’
The ‘Britain’s Best Sirloin Steak’ competition, run by EBLEX, has disclosed its finalists.
The competition, which recognises and rewards quality, innovation and excellence in beef and lamb production, has been narrowed to nine finalists.
EBLEX food-service project manager, Hugh Judd, said: “We are delighted with the level of interest in this new competition. With steaks rating as one of the nation’s favourite dishes, it is imperative that the industry continues to deliver the highest levels of customer satisfaction both in and out of the home. This competition recognises those companies that are working hard to ensure standards remain high.”
The ‘England’s Best Sirloin Steak’ finalists, for each of the three entry categories, are:
Independent Butcher:
• Owen Taylor & Sons of Alfreton, Derbyshire with ‘Larder Trim Sirloin’
• Barlows of Kirkby in Ashfield, Notts with ‘Sirloin’
• Breeding Vision of Dunstable, Beds with ‘Wagyu X Sirloin’
Multiple Retailer or Manufacturer/Supplier:
• Musgrave Retail Partners GB with ‘Budgens “Discover the Taste” Sirloin Steak’
• Buitelaar Production (UK) Ltd with ‘Buitelaar Select Sirloin’
• Linden Foods with ‘Chef’s Larder Premium Extra Mature Sirloin’
Catering Butcher or Foodservice Operator/Supplier:
• Mitchells and Butlers with ‘Miller and Carter Sirloin Steak’
• Walter Rose & Son with ‘Sirloin Steak’
• Solent Butchers Limited with ‘Southern Pride Sirloin Steak’
The category winners will be announced at an awards ceremony taking place at the Underglobe in London on 22nd April 2015.
