HCC to have top TV chefs at The Royal Welsh Show

Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) is to have a exciting line-up of famous TV chefs, live on its stand at this year’s Royal Welsh Show.

Kicking-off on Monday 21st July will be Welshman Bryn Williams. The Denbigh-born chef shot to fame after competing in BBC1’s Great British Menu in 2006, winning the opportunity to cook for the Queen’s Birthday Banquet.

Visitors to the HCC stand on the opening day of the Show will also be introduced to Pan-Asian street food from Cardiff based diner, Katiwok. The award winning restaurant will demonstrate how red meat from Wales can be used to make Kati Rolls, a traditional Asian dish.

Celebrity chef Cyrus Todiwala will combine Welsh and Indian flavours on Tuesday 22 July. Recently crowned ‘Food Personality of the Year’ at the prestigious BBC Food and Farming Awards, he is chef patron of four successful restaurants, has presented his own show – The Incredible Spice Men – and is a regular guest on many other cooking programmes. He is also a member of HCC’s Welsh Lamb Club.

The star attraction on Wednesday 23rf July will be the well-known Welsh chef, Dudley Newbury. He is a familiar face on S4C having presented numerous series of cooking programmes as well as being the author of several cookbooks.

Having tasted fame earlier in the year and being presented with the acclaimed title, Welsh Curry House of the Year 2014 by TV weathergirl Sian Lloyd, the chefs of Tŷ Asha Balti, Llanrwst will allow you to judge their curries for yourselves on Thursday 24th July. They will make their debut appearance on the HCC stand and will be using PGI Welsh Lamb to create dishes that are sure to ‘wow’ the crowds.

The Show will be wrapped-up by Nerys Howell, one of the judges of the Welsh Curry House Awards and owner of Cardiff-based Howel Food Consultancy. With years of experience in the food, drink and hospitality industry, she has travelled the world as an advocate for Welsh delicacies and is the author of a recipe book dedicated to Welsh produce, Wales on a plate. Nerys also has regular slots on various television and radio programmes.

HCC’s Consumer Executive, Elwen Roberts who will be busy demonstrating in the kitchen for the duration. Last year, she reached a major milestone and celebrated her 25th year of cooking demonstrations at the Royal Welsh Show.

Elwen, who appears regularly on S4C’s Prynhawn Da programme, will also show off some of her own recipes at the four-day show and will interview the chefs during their demonstrations.
