Ladies in Beef launch Shopper’s Guide to Buying British

Ladies in Beef have produced a new guide to labelling to help consumers identify quality assured British beef more easily.

LIB Beef Labelling 12pp A5 FINAL-1 copy‘A Shopper’s Guide To Buying British Beef’ is being launched in time for the start of Great British Beef Week 2013 (21st to 27th April) and will be available to download from the website www.ladiesinbeef.org.uk from Friday 19th April.

The Guide explains that it is not compulsory to label many processed beef products with their country of origin under British or EU legislation. However, retailers do have to comply with a number of EU regulations and a general principle in all relevant legislation is that the place of origin of the meat should be labelled if the failure to do so might mislead the purchaser.
