Roach sadly passed away at Treliske Hospital, Truro, on 27th September at the age of 69, leaving behind his wife Valerie, three children and four grandchildren.

Roach started working in the family poultry processing business, set up by his father Norman in 1962, at the age of 15. After taking the helm of the business, Roach Foods, he built four factories in Cornwall. He then led the business into a merger with pig meat supplier Dalehead Foods in 1999. The

combined business, Flagship Foods, was then the country’s second largest supplier of bacon and cooked meats to UK supermarkets and caterers.

Flagship Foods was sold to Tulip in 2004 with Roach becoming vice chairman in the process. He remained a non-executive director until 2013.

Tulip’s CEO, Steve Francis, commenting on Roahc, career said: “An innovator and entrepreneur, Graham prided himself on building strong teams while delivering products and services which inspired confidence and loyalty in employees, customers and consumers alike.

“There are many employees within the business today who began their working careers under Graham and, on behalf of them all and the wider organisation, I would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to the Roach family during this difficult time.

“Graham was a founding father of our business and a true giant in our industry. It is up to us now to carry forward his legacy with pride as we embark on re-building Tulip’s number one position in the UK pork industry.”
