New interactive quiz for pig producers
A new interactive quiz on sow condition scoring is available on the BPEX website.
The quizzes have been revamped to make them more user-friendly and they are now linked to the Pig Industry Professional Register (PIPR) which provides proof and recognition of training.
BPEX says more quizzes will be added on a range of pig production topics every other month, giving producers the chance to both test and update their knowledge and find out where they have any gaps in understanding.
Breeding herd topics are the initial focus, as part of the Breed +3 initiative to help each herd wean an extra three pigs per sow per year and manage production costs.
BPEX technology coordinator Miriam Drewett said: “We’ve developed the interactive quizzes as a new training tool for pig producers. It’s a simple way to learn more about practical pig topics which doesn’t take too long and is hopefully a bit of fun at the same time.”
PIPR members will be awarded three points for each quiz they complete, up to a maximum of six per year; they can complete as many quizzes as they wish but only the first six will qualify for PIPR points.
