‘Performance’ recipe book launched for caterers

EBLEX has produced a new recipe book to help school and workplace caterers comply with the Department of Health’s ‘Public Health Responsibility Deal’ by offering customers healthy, nutritionally balanced beef and lamb dishes.

Entitled ‘Performance’, the book explains the role of red meat in a healthy balanced diet and looks at how eating the right foods and balancing that with moderate intensity exercise can help improve both physical and mental performance. It also features 14 recipes which use added value cuts of beef or lamb and are suitable for a halal diet.

EBLEX foodservice project manager, Hugh Judd, said: “Like it or not, we spend around sixty per cent of our lives either at work or studying, which means that school and workplace caterers have an important role to play in helping to encourage their customers to eat healthily. Performance is designed to help them do just that.

“All of the recipes contain either beef or lamb, both of which contain a wide variety of essential nutrients, such as protein, iron, zinc and B vitamins, many of which are lacking in people’s diets.

“As well as the recipes, the book contains specific sections on sports nutrition and the nutritional needs of children. It also explains the differences between Red Tractor assurance standards for beef and lamb and the additional guarantees of consistency and enhanced eating quality provided by the EBLEX Quality Standard Mark Scheme.”

‘Performance’ is available to download from www.eblextrade.co.uk and a limited number of hard copies, which can be ordered from the website, will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
