Speaking at the PTF Annual Dinner in London, Smith set out a new direction for the PTF, which includes improved market information provision for Bacon & Pigmeat Members, as well as new membership categories.

“Last month PTF was recognised as the Best Trade Organisation at the Food Management Today Industry Awards,” Smith said, “This month we’re setting out how we’ll continue our proud track record of delivery for our members.

“With a new director general at the helm, driving forward our new three year business plan we can realise this vision and set out how our members deliver for the economy and consumers.

Altogether our products account for nearly 16% of household expenditure on food in the UK, we’re helping to keep retail shelves full of great tasting natural products and we’re key to chasing down export growth. We need to tell that story and challenge inaccurate and outdated views of our sector.”
