QMS “Sharing Best Practice” conference date announced

Livestock farmers who are interested in hearing the latest on a range of initiatives aimed at improving efficiency and reducing costs are invited to register for Quality Meat Scotland’s industry development conference early next year.

QMS’s “Sharing Best Practice: Inform, Inspire, Innovate” event is free to attend and takes place on Thursday 12 February at Airth Castle Hotel near Falkirk. The one-day event will review ways in which efficiency and profitability can be improved across the red meat industry, a key consideration when many producers are faced with reduced support payments.

Farmers from across Scotland will speak on a number of the QMS initiatives they are involved in and how their efficiency and profitability has improved as a result of changes introduced. They include Farmers Weekly Sheep Farmer of the Year, John Scott from Fearn Farm near Tain, Lambing Live 2014 host farmer Hamish Dykes from South Slipperfield, West Lothian, Louise Urquhart from Maryfield, Aboyne and Niall Jeffrey from Beilgrange, East Lothian. They will be joined by Stuart Ashworth, QMS’ Head of Economics Services, and Jamie Robertson of Livestock Management Systems who will highlight how the pig industry can increase resource energy efficiency.

“The 2015 conference programme is full of excellent topics and includes highly-regarded speakers from across Scotland who will share their thoughts about how producers can maximise their productivity and profitability,” said Johnny Mackey, QMS Head of Industry Development.

“Spaces are limited however so we would encourage anyone interested in attending to register early to avoid disappointment.”

The QMS “Sharing Best Practice” conference is free to attend (lunch included) but spaces are limited. To register for the event email info@qmscotland.co.uk or call 0131 472 4040.
