Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef website wins top national award

A website promoting Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef has won a top national award.

The website which has two addresses – eatwelshlamb.co.uk and eatwelshbeef.co.uk – is run by Welsh red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC).

It won the award for the Best Educational, Media and Advertising Site during a ceremony in London.

Organised by Sitecore, the awards recognise companies that exemplify a commitment to delivering customer experiences that engage, delight, inform and motivate.

Previous winners of the award include Oxfam, Dyson, Easyjet and the Football Association.

Laura Dodds, HCC’s marketing manager, said: “Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef have an unrivalled reputation for quality, and they need a high quality website to support them. I’m delighted that the high standard achieved by our website has been recognised.”

HCC’s Brand Marketing Officer Pip Gill said: “We are extremely proud that our website has won this prestigious award. We feel honoured to be mentioned in the same breath as such famous previous winners and world wide brands.

“The award for the best education, media and advertising site is a tough category with stiff competition, and to win shows that the hard work put in by everyone involved in the website’s creation was well worthwhile.”

The bilingual website was created by Sequence of Cardiff. The site includes hundreds of Welsh Lamb, Welsh Beef and pork recipes as well as health and hygiene tips, a database of butchers who sell Welsh red meat and a comprehensive listing of members of the Welsh Lamb Club of leading restaurants.
