ABP UK is supporting the butchery competition at this year’s The Skills Show, taking place from 19th to 21st November.

The event, which takes place on 19th to 21st November at the NEC, Birmingham, provides an opportunity for young adults to gain experience in a vast array of vocational skills and learn about the resulting career paths.

The butchery competition tests entrants’ skill, innovation, creativity, presentation, work ethic, method and approach to tasks, carcass and primal utilisation, waste and safe and hygienic working practice. Finalists will be required to compete in five tasks during the show, including sausage making, ready to eat products, barbeque display, kitchen ready products, boning, seam butchery and display.

Mandy Thompson, People Change Talent manager, said: “One of our core values at ABP UK is to support the future of the meat industry and to encourage the younger generation to explore the career options in the meat manufacturing and butchery sector.

“The Skills Show’s values and commitment to young adults very much lines up with our own and we are excited to be part of The Skills Show and support the talent participating in the inaugural butchery competition,” Thompson added.
