The new 53,600 square foot facility will allow Gressingham to store the majority of its products and packaging on site rather than using external storage facilities.

It will contain a high efficiency refrigeration plant with multi-temperature chamber design, as well as having roof mounted solar panels to generate electricity for the building.

According to Gressingham, the benefits of the new facility include a reduction in the flow of traffic on and off site, noise reduction and the shrinking of the company’s carbon footprint.

William Buchanan, Gressingham’s managing director, commented: “With the growing popularity of duck, the new distribution centre is a key investment, securing the future of the site at Redgrave with the opportunity to expand production of ducks and other poultry in the future.”

The centre was officially unveiled by founder and chairman of Gressingham Foods, Maurice Buchanan, on 17th January.
