Q Guild appoints new chairman

David Lishman of Yorkshire butchers Lishman’s of Ilkley, has been announced as the new chair of the Q Guild of Butchers.

David takes over the role of chair from Mark Turnbull of Turnbulls of Alnwick. Commenting on his new appointment, David said: “I’m honoured to take on this role at the Q Guild of Butchers. My own business has been a member for almost 20 years and I’ve truly valued the guild as a way of sharing knowledge, ideas and experience.

“Joining a group of like-minded, passionate butchers has allowed my business to continually aim high – and of course, the Q Guild is all about recognising and driving up quality. It’s a genuinely inspiring group.”

David Lishman has been appointed as the new chair of the Q Guild.

With member based across the UK, the Q Guild represents an elite group of the quality independent meat retailers and is synonymous with skills, craftsmanship and quality.

David continued: “As I start my role as chair, I’d like to focus on using our network of regional meetings to help support members in the guild. This is such a worthwhile forum for sharing experience and it’s crucial that all our members are able to tap into this and receive value from their membership.”

Lishman’s of Ilkley, a family-run business, which has held Q Guild membership since 2000, first opened 30 years ago, established by David.

David was also captain of the first British butchery team that travelled to New Zealand and Australia to participate in the Trinations World Butchery Challenge.

He previously held the role of National Vice Chairman of the Q Guild and was also named Master of the Gild of Butchers of the City of York in 2017.
