At the March court lunch of the Worshipful Company of Butchers The Gary Baker Award was made to final year student at Harper Adams University, Aled John.

The award is intended to provide a travel scholarship to enable the recipient to look at some aspect of the red meat sector in Continental Europe.

Aled graduated with a first class honours BSc in Agri-business and is currently a graduate trainee with ABP. He intends to study meat plants in Germany, Austria and Poland in March and April looking particularly at different carcass dressing processes and offal utilisation. He will produce a report later in the year.
