Global food company, BRF, has moved from tier four to tier three in the annual Business Benchmark on Farm Animal Welfare (BBFAW).

The movement into tier three recognises the continued efforts BRF has made in farm animal welfare and its implementation of a number of projects made in 2015, including the early adoption of a collective gestation system for sows and a transport traceability system.

The result also accounts for the progress of a partnership between BRF and World Animal Protection, which together have established an initiative with the aim of improving animal welfare.

Now in its fourth year, the BBFAW provides an annual review of how 90 of the world’s leading food companies manage and report their farm animal welfare policies and practices.
