Dunbia And Tyrone Producer Group win Supply Chain Excellence award

Dunbia and the Tyrone Quality Livestock Producer Group (TQL) have been rewarded with the NI Food and Drinks (NIFDA) Award for Supply Chain Excellence for the “creation of a sustainable and profitable supply chain”.

Mrs Louise Millsopp, Head of Supply Chain Development for DAERA is pictured presenting the NIFDA Supply Chain Excellence Award to Mr Issac Crilly from the Tyrone Quality Livestock Group (right) and Mr Jack Dobson, Executive Director Dunbia.

The partnership between Dunbia and TQL Producer Group was established in 2005 and aimed towards developing an efficient supply chain that would benefit all parties, with a focus on forming closer links with retailers.

As a result of the collaboration, 91% of lamb presented by the TQL to Dunbia are in-spec, compared to a national average of 45%.

Judges hailed the partnership as an “excellent example of a sustainable and profitable supply chain for the shareholders involved”.

Louise Millsopp, head of Supply Chain Development Branch at DAERA that sponsored and judged the event, noted: “The Dunbia/TQL partnership is a very worthy winner of the DAERA Supply Chain Excellence Award in 2017 representing a very well integrated supply chain with close links between producers, Dunbia and retailers with benefits across the chain.”

Dunbia’s executive director, Jack Dobson, who accepted the award, commented: “Dunbia’s ethos is to work in partnership with our farmers to create a sustainable and profitable supply chain for everyone and we are delighted that this approach has been recognised by NIFDA and DAERA.”

This marks the second time that Dunbia has won the NIFDA Supply Chain Excellence Award since 2015 for its collaboration with the Co-op for the Hereford Beef Scheme.
