EBLEX and agri benchmark to showcase global beef and lamb sector trends and developments

Global beef and lamb sector trends and developments will be highlighted at major industry event organised by EBLEX and agri benchmark.

The free Global Forum 2013 on Wednesday, June 19, in York, will feature a number of topics, including global key market trends, the future of European agricultural policy and latest developments in the UK beef and lamb sectors. It will include presentations on global meat production, Russia’s and China’s beef and sheep market, what is next for the sectors in Australia and New Zealand as well as perspectives for the Brazilian and US beef production.

Mike Whittemore, EBLEX head of trade marketing, will outline latest food service and trade development in the UK, while consumer trends will come into focus in a presentation by head of consumer market, Jane Ritchie-Smith. Head of trade development, Peter Hardwick, will look at export trade developments and opportunities.

Claus Deblitz, coordinator of the agri benchmark network, said: “Global Forum 2013 provides the platform for agri benchmark to present an overview of what’s happening in the global beef and sheep sectors. It also covers UK-specific topics, giving delegates a complete picture of the key trends and developments in the industry.”

Mark Topliff, EBLEX/AHDB head of inputs and production economics, said: “The forum showcases to industry stakeholders the breadth of data and expertise available to them to have up to date sector information and exchange of ideas and research projects which can help with business or trading decisions.”

“It is invaluable in giving perspectives on a range of subjects, including global costs of production, standards of different production systems and global market trends. We hope the forum will also provide UK delegates with a comprehensive understanding of the key markets that affect them, either directly or indirectly.”
