Burgers are always popular during the summer months, but this year, as a result of the horsemeat scandal, many shoppers are choosing fresh meat instead of frozen and opting to buy it from their local Quality Standard Mark retailer.

Not only that, there has also been an upsurge in the sale of premium quality or ‘gourmet’ burgers, featuring single muscle beef cuts such as rump, chuck or brisket. Lamb and veal burgers are also becoming more popular too - and there’s been an increase in the number of people buying fresh mince to make their own burgers at home.

With that in mind, EBLEX has produced a fantastic new ‘Gourmet Burger’ point-of-sale kit for members of its Quality Standard Mark (QSM) Scheme, who have pre-registered to receive QSM marketing support materials.

Mike Whittemore, head of trade marketing for EBLEX, said: “The Gourmet Burger kit has been designed to help butchers drive their sales of quality assured mince and premium quality burgers this summer. Featuring a poster, window banner, cabinet cards and a leaflet for customers to take away with advice on storage and cooking tips, as well as ‘Simply Burgers’, the latest in the series of ‘Simply’ recipe books, the kit contains everything you need to make your burger sales sizzle this summer!”
