HCC’s 2020 vision for the red meat industry launched

‘Twenty Twenty Vision’, a major new document setting out the actions needed by all sectors of the Welsh red meat industry to secure a viable long term future, has been compiled by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).

Its publication follows an extensive consultation exercise with all sectors of the lamb, beef and pork supply chain, including farmers, processors, retailers, auctioneers and the Welsh Government.

HCC chairman Dai Davies said: “This strategic action plan is a completely new document which takes a fresh approach to the future of the red meat industry in Wales.

“It is firmly focused on producing tangible outcomes that we believe will benefit farmers, processors and retailers if they collaborate to achieve a common aim.”

He continued: “As custodians of the Welsh brands, we at HCC believe that progress is essential if Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef are to remain serious contenders as quality products on the world stage.

“Twenty Twenty Vision sets out the work that is needed by everyone to further develop the supply chain – for producers to improve efficiency and reduce costs; for processors to use the latest technology to streamline production; and for retailers to get behind them and fully support their efforts.
