A series of regional forums has been held by BPEX looking to identify burning industry issues that need to be addressed.

The meetings were held in York, Bury St Edmunds, Uttoxeter and Shaftesbury and were attended by a cross-section people from the pig industry, including producers, vets and the allied industry.

BPEX knowledge transfer team lead Steve Winfield said: “The aim was to get feedback from them so BPEX can incorporate the needs of the industry into its programmes.

“All the recommendations from the meetings are being collated and they will then be considered by the technical sub-group.

“That group will filter the output from the regions and come up with a list of priorities of what must be tackled first. The final decision lies with the BPEX board.

“The whole aim of these is to make sure BPEX is tackling the right issues – the ones causing the greatest concern in the industry.”
