Lady champion crowned in National Meat Product Competition

Over 50 butchers travelled the length and breadth of the country to showcase 300 products at the National Meat Products Competition but it was Alison Maloney of Maloney’s Country Butchers & Bakers who took the Supreme Champion title with her delicious pork pie.

Alison whose father started the family business was overjoyed to hear of her success but it will come as no surprise to Maloney’s customers who already rate the winning pie as a firm favourite.

Scooping the second title of the day was Craig Finch who was crowned Sausage Champion with his Traditional Pork Sausage. A win that entitles him to go forward for inclusion in the Champion of Champion’s event being held later in the year.

Speaking after the competition John Taylor, adjudicator, commented “The quality of products here today has been high and our experienced team of judges have been treated to a dazzling array of flavours and textures, once again demonstrating the creative flair and innovation of independent craft butchers.”
