Maloney’s Country Butchers & Bakers top National Meat Products Competition
Mike Maloney of Maloney’s Country Butchers & Bakers was crowned National Meat Products Champion 2015 for his outstanding pork pie at the National Meat Products Competition. He also took home a total of two category awards, seven gold and three silver awards for a variety of pies and bacon products.
The competition, organised by The National Federation of Meat & Food Traders (NFMFT) and held at the Meatup exhibition in Stoneleigh, attracting over 40 entrants with a total of 300 products.
The competition, claimed as being the most comprehensive craft based products competition open to independent food retailers throughout the UK today was evaluated for technical and taste qualities by 17 judges across 19 categories ranging from Sausages and Burgers to Pies, Ready Meals and Black Puddings.
Overall, two trophies,19 salvers, 146 gold, 107 silver and 23 bronze certificates were won on the day.
