Meat Industry Awards reward excellence

The 2012 Meat Management Industry Awards ceremony was once again heralded as a resounding success following the presentation on the evening of 24th May, when almost 350 guests came together to celebrate the winning companies, products and organisations.

The results for all sixteen award categories were announced at a glittering awards dinner and presentation ceremony held at London’s 5-Star Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, London. Rugby hero and presenter Martin Bayfield was the VIP guest for the evening and presented the prizes and certificates.

The 2012 Award winners are:

  1. The Catering Butcher Award: Fairfax Meadow Europe Ltd
  2. Best Trade Organisation: National Federation of Meat & Food Traders (NFMFT)
  3. Best Website Based Business: Godfreys.co
  4. Best Equipment/Machinery Supplier: Handtmann Ltd
  5. Training Scheme of the Year: Harper Adams University College Postgraduate Certificate in Meat Business Management
  6. Young Manager of the Year: Michael Gale of Allens of Mayfair
  7. Britain’s Best Butchers’ Shop: Frank Parker Butchers Ltd
  8. Meat Retailer of the Year: ASDA
  9. Britain’s Best Sausage: The Pickled Pig (A Turner & Sons)
  10. Best Poultry Product: Tesco Coriander & Garlic Chicken with Yogurt Dressing (Kerry Foods)
  11. Best Beef Product: Dexter Fillet Steak on the Bone (Taste Tradition Ltd)
  12. Best Pork/Pigmeat Product: Waitrose Boston Butt Pork Shoulder Joint with Spicy BBQ Rub & Drizzle (Dalehead Foods)
  13. Best Lamb Product: Marks & Spencer Lamb Leg Steaks with Smoked Paprika Butter (Dawn Meats Group)
  14. Best Red Meat Product: Marks & Spencer Lamb Leg Steaks with Smoked Paprika Butter (Dawn Meats Group)
  15. Manufacturer of the Year Award: Linden Foods
  16. The Meat Management Excellence Award 2012: Peter Allen – Aubrey Allen Ltd

There was also a special award on the night:

England’s Best Burger Challenge: Aubrey Allen Ltd – Coarse Cut Burger
The Burger Challenge competition is organised by EBLEX and open to both butchers and manufacturers’ who use Quality Standard Beef or Lamb.

The winners of each of the three individual red meat categories went head to head to find the overall red meat champion. Marks & Spencer Lamb Leg Steaks with Smoked Paprika Butter which won the red meat category, was described by judges as ‘a really first class product which delivers on every level’.

The dinner was attended by almost 350 guests and sponsored by major meat promotional bodies and industry suppliers operating in the UK including: EBLEX, BPEX, Hybu Cig Cymru/Meat Promotion Wales, the Meat Training Council, Marel, Reiser, Bizerba and many other top companies and organisations.
