Prys Morgan has re-joined 2 Sisters Food Group as their head of livestock procurement at the Merthyr Tydfil plant, as the company aims to strengthen its relationship with producers.
Morgan joins the company after a two-year service at Hybu Cig Cymru - Meat Promotion Wales, which he had joined in 2015, and was responsible for communications, industry relations and development activities for red meat within Wales.
His new responsibilities at 2 Sisters include beef and lamb procurement for the company’s largest red meat plant, along with further developing the ‘in2grate’ production system and other supply chain initiatives.
Morgan holds a post-graduate degree from Bangor and in the past he has held roles at the Meat and Livestock Commission, the Farm Business Survey Unit at Aberystwyth University and ADAS.
John Dracup, procurement director at 2 Sisters red meat, noted: “Prys understands the sector and brings a wealth of knowledge that will beef up our procurement and agricultural teams.
“We want to further strengthen our relationships with our valued producers and Prys has the skills and experience to drive this forward.”
Commenting on his appointment, Morgan added: “I am really looking forward to be part of the 2 Sisters red meat team again.
“I see it as a challenging role but one where I believe there is an opportunity to advance and develop relationships with both suppliers and customers.”
