The awards will be made up of 13 categories and will include UK chicken, duck, goose and turkey.

The British Poultry Awards will attempt to provide a platform for those involved in the agricultural and manufacturing areas of the poultry industry, rewarding them for producing the best retailer and foodservice products.

Entries for the awards are expected to include the latest innovation and choice across seasonal summer and Christmas product ranges, with categories including the Best Ready-to-Eat Poultry Product, the Best Fresh Seasonal Poultry Product – Summer Eating, the Best Fresh Seasonal Poultry Product – Christmas and the Best Fresh Whole Turkey – Christmas.

Nominees will also compete in other categories, such as Best Fresh Speciality Poultry Product, Best Fresh Duck Product, Best Fresh Chicken Product, Best Fresh Turkey Product and Best Foodservice Poultry Product.

In addition, the Poultry Retailer of the Year category will provide retailers the opportunity to showcase their entire range of everyday fresh cuts on sale all year, with winners receiving a dedicated logo that they will be able to use on advertising and POS campaigns.

Young catering students will also be honoured at the awards, with the Student Chef of the Year reward that will see students from colleges across the country competing to create the best turkey starter or turkey main course, which will be served at The Sheraton Grand Park Lan hotel during the ceremony.

The deadline for entries is the 26th May, while the entry form and criteria are available to download at the council’s website: www.britishpoultry.org.uk.
