Tilehurst Village Butchers, near Reading, is the latest new member of The Q Guild.
Chris Watts, director of Tilehurst Village Butchers, said: “We’re delighted. With the Q Guild membership we’re now recognised as being a top quality butchers. It’s a real achievement to be accepted by them.”
The Tilehurst store has been trading for 24 years and is a friendly family butchers, also stocking a wide range of fruit and vegetables and offering a free delivery service.
Chris’s wife Jane, also a director, makes home-made pies which are very popular with the locals.
“She makes steak and kidney, chicken and mushroom, steak and ale, pasties – all the favourites, with specials every other week,” said Chris.
“We also have a wide range of home-made sausages - the classics plus some which are a little bit different, like wild boar and apple or pork and marmite – either you love it or you hate it! We do stock exotic stuff too like zebra, bison, wild boar, alpaca – sometimes people like something a bit unusual.”
All the store’s beef and lamb comes from local farm-assured suppliers, with traditionally farmed and grass-fed cattle. All pork is free range and outdoor reared where possible and supplied by local farms. Chickens are supplied by Banham Poultry, which has the highest standards of safety and quality.
