The dates have been set for the sixteenth annual British Sausage Week. The seven-days of sausage appreciation will run from 4th to 10th November 2013, providing butchers, retailers and sausage-makers with opportunities to benefit from increased sales.
This year’s activity will include a combination of high profile PR campaign, nationwide competition and point-of-sale promotional tools, to ensure that everyone in the manufacture and sale of sausages can get involved.
Keith Fisher, BPEX’s butchery and product development manager, said: “As a nation we consumed 190,114 tonnes of sausages in the last year, spending £721 million*. They’re a regular meal-time purchase for 87% of households, accounting for a staggering 864million meals every year. No other food elicits quite as much affection, making British Sausage Week an event not to be missed.
“This year’s campaign will give the industry a platform to encourage consumers to discover about Britain’s greatest sausages and the many ways they can be enjoyed.
“It is never too early to start planning and looking at ways your business can benefit. Creating new varieties, introducing timely promotions or holding charity events are all ideas that can help raise awareness and boost sales. So if you supply or sell great sausages make a date for British Sausage Week and use it to your advantage.”
