Following news that staff at four Tesco distribution centres had voted to strike, union members at another nine sites will also take industrial action over a pay dispute.
Two separate ballots were held, involving over 5,000 members of the Usdaw union at nine Tesco distribution centres: Daventry Clothing, Goole, Hinckley, Lichfield, Livingston, Magor (both trunk and main sites), Peterborough and Southamption.
A stoppage will begin on Monday 20th December and conclude on Christmas Eve.
The ballots over industrial action took place after members rejected a 4% annual pay increase offer from Tesco.
Earlier this week it was announced that members of the Unite union would take part in pre-Christmas stoppages at distribution sites in Didcot, Doncaster, Belfast and Antrim.
A Tesco spokesperson said the company's offer was “fair recognition” of the work staff had done throughout the pandemic and that it had contingency plans in place to mitigate any disruption.
