The investment has been announced, following the official opening of the site held back on 30th September. The site has already benefitted from significant investment since becoming operational last year. According to Pilgrim’s UK, the site’s state-of-the-art food manufacturing technology and equipment makes it a centre of excellence for the UK’s fresh pork manufacturing.

The company has committed to further investment in the site over the coming months to “improve production efficiency, overall capacity and create a single production site for all fresh and higher welfare pork solutions.”

It has also produced funds to “support further growth and expansion”, including new machinery in 2022.

Pilgrim’s Bromborough site currently supports over 120 jobs in the local area with a range of  operational roles, as well as engineering and technical apprenticeships. The company aims to create more job opportunities through the new investment, and has also committed to achieve net zero CO2 emissions by 2030.

Andrew Cracknell, CEO of Pilgrim’s UK, said: “This investment marks our commitment to the site and the local jobs it supports, which is great news for our business, the local community and our customers.”
