According to BPEX, a new report called ‘Eating Out – Pork and Sausages’, based on YouGov consumer research finds that pork is the most popular meat served out of the home.

BPEX says this gives caterers the green light to put more pork on their forks and to give more information on menus.

While pork and pork products remain popular the research clearly identifies that more can be done to increase its use in the foodservice sector. BPEX foodservice trade manager, Tony Goodger, said: “We know that diners enjoy eating pork and sausages out of home. Pork choices can also be encouraged by promoting the leanness of the cut, carvery options and crucially, from where it has been sourced – from local or Quality Assured supply chains, such as Red Tractor.”

The research also points to high awareness of the Red Tractor logo, with consumers agreeing it provides a strong measure of reassurance and confidence in the quality, production standards and origin of the pork being served.A copy of the report can be downloaded by following this link:http://www.bpex.org.uk/prices-facts-figures/reports/categoryreports.aspx
