Princess Royal to open the new Butchers’ Hall

Past WCB Master, HRH The Princess Royal will formally open Butchers’ Hall.

The Butchers’ Company has a long association with Royalty and HRH The Queen Mother was another longstanding Liveryman with the Company who visited the Hall and Smithfield Market on many occasions.

More recently, HRH The Princess Royal was Master of The WCB in 2010/11 and has demonstrated her support for the UK meat industry by attending Livery functions and other events including the annual Institute of Meat / WCB prizegiving.

This year’s WCB Master Tim Dumenil commented: “We now have a Hall we can all be proud of. Restored to its former glory and grandeur, a spiritual home for us and future generations and more, much more. Naturally we are delighted that Her Royal Highness is joining us in November and that she has graciously agreed to formally open the new Hall. I know this will be a marvelous occasion.

“We want Butchers’ Hall to be the catalyst for making our Livery Company more diverse, more inclusive and more progressive. The profile we obtain from the generous support of HRH The Princess Royal cannot be overstated.

“We also want to attract new Liverymen who are the future and the lifeblood of the Livery. Its fantastic to belong and to participate in all that we do, and the opportunity for networking and fellowship is second to none. I want to encourage as many new Liverymen to join us as possible and they can be assured of a warm welcome.”
