QMS encourages consumers to fire up for National BBQ Week

Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is celebrating National Barbecue Week by encouraging consumers to fire up their barbecues and cook up some Scotch-inspired dishes with their families.

As part of its joint £1.2m national campaign with the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and Hybu Cig Cymru, QMS will be providing BBQ recipe inspiration to consumers via print and online channels from the 25th May to 31st May.

QMS will also be offering tips on how readers can add their own twists to best enjoy the dishes they make.

“We want families to celebrate National Barbecue Week by enjoying simple, healthy and delicious recipes using top-quality products from Scottish farms and available in supermarkets and butchers across the country.”

Through its Scotch Kitchen website and social channels, QMS has also partnered with UK barbecue blogger Marcus Bawdon of Country Wood Smoke who will be sharing his take on Scotch Beef steak skewers with chimichurri sauce alongside his top tips for the dish for people to recreate at home.

Lesley Cameron, director of marketing and communications from Quality Meat Scotland, said: “Although the kitchen is the heart of the home, the barbecue is undoubtedly the heart of summer.

“We want families to celebrate National Barbecue Week by enjoying simple, healthy and delicious recipes using top-quality products from Scottish farms and available in supermarkets and butchers across the country.

“We would also encourage people to continue supporting their local Scotch Butcher Club butcher by ordering meat if they don’t already have it at home, as many are still offering deliveries during this time.”
