Quality Standard beef in Far East spotlight

Quality assured beef will next month be showcased by EBLEX at a major food service event in the Far East.

The organisation will be taking part in the Restaurant & Bar exhibition in Hong Kong, from September 3rd to September 5th. The food service sector is a significant market in Hong Kong, with more than 13,000 restaurants and where 69 per cent of food is consumed outside the home.

EBLEX’s presence at the event follows its success earlier this year at HOFEX – the largest food and hospitality trade show in Asia-Pacific region – where it joined BPEX, UK Trade and Investment and 18 UK red meat firms. At Restaurant & Bar, Quality Standard beef will be grilled on the stand for visitors to taste.

Jean-Pierre Garnier, EBLEX export manager, said: “Since HOFEX, we have made some good inroads on the wealthy Hong Kong market with importers now committed to list the product. However, we are under no illusion of the strength of the competition out there, with the very best Australian, US, Canadian and even Japanese beef already battling for market share.

“Nonetheless, we are quietly confident that the eating quality of our grass-fed beef and its undeniable cachet will ensure that we carve our own niche in this important market. As such, a presence at shows such as Restaurant & Bar will play a major role in driving this success.”
