Welsh butchers give thumbs up to POS material

Promotional point of sale (POS) material, which aimed to help boost sales of Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef during the festive period, has been rated highly by butchers in Wales, according to Welsh red meat promotion agency Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC).

Over 350 independent butchers and retailers in Wales were sent point of sale material, including recipe leaflets and posters, as part of a Christmas promotional campaign by HCC.

In a survey carried out after the campaign, 99% of butchers said they rated the promotional material as either very good or good, with many saying the recipe leaflets were popular with their customers and helped with sales.

Philippa Gill, HCC’s brand marketing officer, said: “We are delighted that this year’s Christmas point of sale kits proved so popular with both butchers and their customers.

“HCC sends out point of sale material to retailers throughout the year which aim to highlight the versatility of Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef, how it can be enjoyed all year round and to inspire consumers to buy different cuts of meat from their butchers.”

HCC will be sending out more point of sale kits in the spring to butchers who sell Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef.

“Members of a new Butchers Club that we are setting up will be sent a welcome pack which includes promotional material as well as regular updates for butchers” added Mrs Gill.

A total of 353 Christmas point of sale kits were sent out to butchers across Wales last year.
