Welsh Lamb on the agenda for NATO Ministers

Welsh Lamb was served to a gathering of foreign ministers during a pre-NATO Summit working dinner held in Brussels earlier this week.

Country leaders congregated to discuss the agenda for the conference in September which was expected to attract 60 world leaders to the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport.

First Minister Carwyn Jones addressed the delegation of Ministers which included Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, William Hague; John Kerry, United States Secretary of State; and Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Secretary General of NATO.

The First Minister said on Twitter that he was delighted to address NATO Foreign Ministers with William Hague and promote Wales ahead of the Summit.

Prior to the dinner, William Hague Tweeted that he was also “proud to promote Wales to NATO Foreign Ministers – no better, more fitting or inspiring location for a Summit.

“Tonight’s dinner is a fantastic opportunity for NATO Foreign Ministers to get a ‘taste of Wales’ ahead of the Summit.”

Pembrokeshire potatoes and Ancre Hill Estates sparkling wine from Monmouthshire was served with the Welsh Lamb during the prestigious event.

“We were proud to be able to supply the best Welsh Lamb for this high-profile occasion,” said Gwyn Howells, Chief Executive of Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC). “This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase red meat from Wales to some of the most influential and high-powered people in the world.”

HCC will also be supplying Welsh Lamb for a major Wales warm-up event at the NATO headquarters in Brussels next month.
