Welsh red meat promotion agency, Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC) will celebrate the life of Swansea’s most famous son this weekend.

The Welsh Red Meat Roadshow will be heading towards Dylan Thomas’ home town to mark the centenary of the legendary poet and writer’s birth.

The city’s Cwmdonkin Park will come alive with the sound of music, poetry and storytelling, multi-activity art workshops and promenading theatre during the Green Fuse Festival. The event will present the legacy of Dylan Thomas at a location which is home to his memorial stone and shelter.

Elwen Roberts, HCC’s Consumer Executive said: “The aim of the Welsh Red Meat Roadshow is to show how red meat can play an important role in a balanced diet. It is full of valuable nutrients that are beneficial for our health.

“During the Green Fuse Festival we will show how easy it is to cook with Welsh Lamb, Welsh Beef and pork from Wales, as well as demonstrate its versatility.

“Dylan Thomas is an iconic figure and we are pleased to be involved in one of Swansea’s many activities to celebrate the anniversary of his birth.”

Information about the clean, green production methods employed by the farmers of Wales will be promoted, as well as the benefits of the coveted Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status that was granted to Welsh Lamb and Welsh Beef by the European Commission.

The Roadshow can be followed on Twitter at www.twitter.com/RedMeatRoadshow.
