Finalists for the Butchery WorldSkills UK National Competition have been announced, with the six top scoring butchers from the combined heats in Wales, Northern Ireland and England set to compete for the title in November.

Matthew Edwards of Vaughan’s Family Butchers, Penyfford; Daniel John Allen-Raftery of Randall Parker, Llanidoes; and Peter Rushforth of Swans Farm Shop, Mold will represent Wales in the competition.

England will be represented by John Brereton of Ludlow Food Centre and Matthew Parkes of Walter Smith Fine Foods, whilst representing Ireland will be Dylan Gillespie from Clougher Valley Meats, Tyrone.

WorldSkills UK National Skills Competitions are designed to enhance apprenticeship and training programmes and improve and drive skills in the industry. Butchery is one of more than 60 skills to feature in this year’s competition.

The competition will take place at the NEC Birmingham from 19th to 21st November.
