Pig farmers are invited to attend carcase selection training courses arranged by Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales (HCC).

Held at abattoirs across Wales, the events have been arranged for 2nd, 4th and 20th March. They are aimed at small or large scale producers who are keen to increase their understanding of how and when to select a perfect pig for slaughter.

The course will include an explanation from experienced animal grader, John Messenger from Meat and Livestock Commercial Services Ltd (MLCSL) who will refer to carcases of varying conformation and give details of the fat measuring method for grading pigs.
