The Meat Management Industry Awards has announced the winners of its annual awards programme honouring the best of the British and Irish meat industries.
Held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on 12th September, the awards ceremony and black-tie dinner highlighted the creativity, innovation and excellence of the UK’s meat industry.
Manufacturers, supermarkets, industry suppliers, trade organisations, catering butchers, independent retailers and outstanding individuals were amongst those recognised across a total of 20 awards.
Comedian and host of this year’s ceremony Mark Watson presented winners with their trophies and certificates.
The coveted Excellence Award title went to Bill Jermey, chairman of the Institute of Meat. This prestigious award goes to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution the British meat industry. Jermey’s contribution to training and education within the sector is immense, making him an industry stalwart and worthy winner of this accolade.
Another of the night’s most prestigious awards, Young Manager of the Year, was won by Grace Walker of Warrendale Wagyu.
Pilgrim’s UK was named Meat Manufacturer of the Year, and Waitrose was voted Supermarket / Multiple Meat Retailer of the Year. Britain’s Best Butchers Shop went to Giglis Butchers situated in Lytham St Annes.
