New weaning videos created for Scottish families
A collection of weaning videos have been produced to educate Scottish families about the role of Scotch Beef PFI, Scotch Lamb PGI and Specially Selected Pork in a healthy balanced diet.
Blogger and Great British Bake Off contestant Holly Bell has created three weaning recipes as part of Quality Meat Scotland’s (QMS) Good Family Food focus. The recipes feature full serves and finger food for babies, toddlers and families of four.
The videos are being promoted via QMS’s Good Family Food Facebook page as a way to inspire and encourage families to introduce quality meat produce to their day-to-day diet from a young age.
Recipe curator and author of Recipes from a Normal Mum, Bell, said: “It’s great to be working with QMS on this digital campaign to promote good quality food during the weaning stage. As a mum of three myself, I’m constantly trying to create recipes which suit the whole family while providing the boys with all of the nutrients they need.
“I’ve put a fresh slant on classic dishes to suit the whole family, making use of Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork, with portion options from snacks and starters to sit-down dinners.”
An introductory video and a Q&A video, which addresses parents’ misconceptions and concerns when it comes to weaning, are also available alongside the recipe videos. The Q&A video is to help families feel confident when introducing red meat to their children’s diet.
Qualified nutritionist and health and education executive at QMS, Jenni Henderson, commented: “The introduction of protein rich foods, like Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork when weaning is essential for babies’ growth and development as well as being an important source of iron needed to build babies’ iron levels.
“These videos are a great way to communicate this to a wide audience and show how quick and easy it is to cook with these quality products. Holly has produced three recipes using Scotch Beef, Scotch Lamb and Specially Selected Pork to showcase their versatility when creating meals for children and adults alike.”
The videos are available at QMS’s Good Family Food Facebook page.
