Amazon has today launched its AmazonFresh service to consumers based in London, meaning residents in the capital can do an online grocery shop for fresh meat and other food items via the shopping website.
Originally only available in the US, the new service will allow Amazon Prime customers in 69 Central and East London postcodes to order from over 130,000 products from the comfort of their own homes.
The products available on the site include well-known British brands from Morrisons, as well as produce from local food producers, butchers and shops from London destinations such as Borough Market and Notting Hill.
The site's meat categories include beef, chicken, pork, lamb, sausages, bacon, turkey and game, as well as selected dried and cured meats.
Special deals include organic meat for £5 and under, and steak for £7 or less.
Herdsman is just one of the farmers working with the service, offering select ranges of quality-assured beef, lamb, pork and veal, and all its meat is sourced exclusively from the British Isles. Herdsman has worked in the industry for 62 years.
In addition to meat, fruit and vegetables, seafood, baked goods, dairy and more are available to order online, either through the Amazon website or via its app.
All perishable products have a guaranteed minimum shelf life, so that with Amazon’s Freshness Guarantee, customers can request a refund if they are unhappy with the freshness of the meat they receive.
The AmazonFresh service also offers one hour delivery slots between 7am and 11pm, seven days a week, with same-day delivery available from 5pm for orders placed by 1pm.
Ajay Kavan, vice president of AmazonFresh, commented: “We believe that the key to the long term success of AmazonFresh is to bring together the low prices, vast selection, fast delivery options and customer experience that Amazon customers know and love.”
There is also a range of fresh, chilled and frozen produce available for Prime members based outside of London in areas such as Surrey, South Yorkshire, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle, Liverpool, Leeds and Portsmouth via Amazon’s Prime Now service.
