This year the judges had their work cut out to find Britain’s best sausage, best lamb, beef and pork products, plus the overall best red meat winner. There is also the hotly contested best poultry product category too. Entries and voting is now completed, as is all the other judging and the shop visits, plus the Young Manager of the Year interviews. All winners and runners up will be revealed on the evening of 2nd July.
Graham Yandell the publisher of Meat Management was delighted with the continued progress of the Awards: “We continue to go from strength to strength and the support of our sponsors is key to this. I would like to thank everyone who is involved. There is no doubt that moving the dinner to Birmingham this year to tie in with the MEATUP show at the NEC has already proven to be a great success and we are delighted that we have received such outstanding support.”
He continued: “One Award that also receives a great deal of interest is the Excellence Award which goes to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the industry. Once again we have some really deserving finalists this year and I am looking forward to hearing who has won.”
Welsh Meat Promotional body HCC is to again sponsoring the main course at the dinner and will also play a full part in the Awards ceremony by sponsoring the best equipment / machinery category. “It is a particular pleasure to work with HCC,” said Emma Cash, the Awards organiser. “The food at our dinners over the years has been outstanding with meat supplied by HCC and I know that our guests are really going to enjoy top quality filet of Welsh beef this year. In fact we have a great menu including a superb duck starter sponsored by Cherry Valley Farms, which I am sure will a big hit with our guests.”
