The fast food chain, McDonald’s has announced price hikes on four of its meat products.

The company cites higher food and energy costs and a spokesman said: “Like many businesses, the impact of the increase in food and energy costs continues to affect our company and our franchises.”

The guide the company has set its franchisees is and increase of 20p on these menu items:

  • Mayo Chicken
  • Bacon Mayo Chicken
  • Bacon Double Cheeseburger
  • Triple Cheeseburger.

The last time McDonald’s increased its prices was last summer, which had been the first price rise in 14 years.

The company said it was trialling ‘meal deals’ in South East England to gauge consumer response.

Following last year’s price rise the company saw its sales grow by 10.9%.
